Rune is curious and ambitious, learning quickly and adapting easily, but when life stops challenging her she grows restless. Boredom drives her to take risks and stir up trouble, sometimes just to feel engaged. She has a dark, sarcastic sense of humor and often laughs at tense or dangerous moments, making others uneasy. Rune is drawn to risk and thrives when the stakes are high. She can be cold and calculating, never hesitating to do what she believes must be done. Those who earn her loyalty find it fierce and uncompromising, but to most she remains unpredictable and dangerous.
Background:
Rune grew up in the Freebelt, spending her early years helping her father keep ships running. She mastered mechanics quickly but grew bored and drifted into the underworld, where she learned hacking, smuggling and other illicit skills.
Her father pushed her to straighten out, so she studied engineering and landed a position with Vanguard Tactical Systems working on experimental weapons. For a time she stayed on track, but boredom returned and she fell back on old contacts, secretly selling corporate secrets and feeding her taste for risk and profit.
Finally Vanguard launched the Vanguard Expedition(VEX), a six ship mission to force passage through the gate. Rune smuggled her father and underworld associates aboard, but only her ship made it through the gate, and was heavily damaged in the process.
During repairs the stowaways were discovered. The arrest turned violent and her father was killed. The loss unmoored her and she led a mutiny, seizing control of the ship and executing those who refused to join her.
Rune kept the VEX name but rebuilt it into Vexcorp under her rule. With her ship repaired Rune now looks to the Anubis system with growing ambition, determined to make her mark.
