Backstory: Cornelius Pemberton is a high ranking military officer, and part of the admiralty of a planet known as Soell.
Growing up nearby one of the larger naval yards, Cornelius dreamed of flying one of the large warships that consistently berthed in or departed from its razor wire-tipped polycrete walls. When Cornelius entered the Officer Training Cadre of the Soell Naval Academy, he easily earned his commission and was awarded with a small patrol frigate named “*Tempest*.” He quickly rose up the ranks, achieving Vice Admiral just in time to be present when the first BA force arrived, fully expecting Soell to be dead or, at least, abandoned. What they didn't expect was a well pull together task force.
The single-largest colony ship that Soell built, the *Orion's Arm*, was attached to the expedition outside of the known system, intended to aide BA in their efforts to explore. VADM. Pemberton was appointed as the representative of Soell for this mission. When the Hellspawn attacked, most of the crew on board made it to life boats and ejected off towards a desert planet, watching the *Orion's* reactors go critical and tear the ship apart. This is where his story begins…
