Mdk Vorn
Player: mdk1984
In the distant future, humanity has spread across the stars, mining distant asteroids and planets for rare resources that sustain the vast interstellar civilizations. Among these frontiers is Atlas-27, a remote mining colony orbiting a dying red dwarf star.
The Miner:
Mdk Vorn, a seasoned miner, grew up in the shadow of the mining industry. His father perished in a mine collapse on Luna's dark side, and his mother was left crippled by an industrial accident. For Mdk, mining was both a curse and a lifeline—a dangerous legacy he couldn’t escape. Known for his resilience, he was among the first wave sent to Atlas-27.
The Incident:
Atlas-27's operation was plagued by unstable orbits and frequent solar flares from the dying star. On his last scheduled shift, Elias was tasked with repairing an automated mining drone in one of the deeper asteroid fields. A sudden burst of electromagnetic radiation—“a star shriek”—scrambled navigation systems across the colony.
His ship, The Diligence, was caught in the chaos. Alarms screamed as he scrambled to regain control, but a rogue asteroid, dislodged by the star's gravitational spasms, clipped his ship. The collision severed communication with the colony and sent The Diligence spiralling into uncharted space.
The Drift:
Mdk awoke to silence, his ship crippled, the engines sputtering on emergency reserves. His onboard AI companion, LUX, kept him alive with rationed oxygen and meager heat. Days turned into weeks as Elias scavenged through mining drones and equipment for repairs, all while watching the star grow ever fainter in the distance.
But isolation gnawed at him. Dreams of his family, past traumas, and hallucinations from oxygen deprivation blurred his reality. LUX's voice became his only tether to sanity—until even it began to fail. Desperate, he jerry-rigged his equipment to send a weak distress signal, a faint cry across the void.
