Markus was raised by his father aboard their mining ship. A dying class, he grew up around ships whose main purpose was to extract as much money from “these god forsaken rocks” (in his father's words) as possible. Struggling to make a living against the ultra low profit-margin corporations, eventually Markus' father was forced to sell their ship and retire. With no other choice, Markus entered the BORE apprenticeship program; a lottery system. This program set him up for success in the corporate environment.

Now a mid level Resource Extraction Engineer for BORE Technologies, Markus found himself on the expedition with the BA. What he did not sign up for was what they found when they got to the next system.
